Pick You Up

I guess today is judgment day
Since everybody's got something to say
But if all you can come up with is hate
Then turn around and march the other way
Let's take a lesson from the family tree
We share this land but we don't all agree
You think I'm weird, I think you are crazy
But I can love you 'cause we're all family
Whoever said freedom was free?
There ain't no freedom without history
And folks who died for you and me
So, don't be an asshole, let everyone be
What if everyone took a civics class?
I'm not sure I know anyone who'd pass
But how we live today comes from the past
If we forget it could slip from our grasp
Whatever happened to the golden rule?
Whoever wrote it wasn't just a fool
We watch the thread unravel from the spool
When you preach love and still you act so cruel
Whoever said freedom was free?
There ain't no freedom without history
And folks who died for you and me
So, don't be an asshole, let everyone be, yeah
So, lets all pile onto the freedom bus
It's not the sun that rides for all of us
Bring Jesus, Buddha, or your old dog Gus
Whatever brings you joy and happiness, oh
Whoever said freedom was free?
There ain't no freedom without history
And folks who died for you and me, oh
Whoever said freedom was free?
There ain't no freedom without history
And folks who died for you and me
So don't be an asshole, let everyone be
